WMI vs CIM: What's the difference?

November 04, 2019 0 Comments PowerShell, WMI, CIM

Last week I wrote an article for the DefragThis blog about the difference between WMI and CIM. I talk about how PowerShell provides two similar management interfaces for accessing data on a computer: WMI and CIM. Sysadmins have been using WMI for years, and then Microsoft gave us data access via CIM with the rollout of PowerShell v3.0. What’s the difference between these two management interfaces? Which one should you use, and why?

It's great primer for someone who not know the differences between WMI and CIM management interface and how they can be accessed via PowerShell. I invite you to read the rest of the article here . You can leave comments below or over at the DefragThis blog.
